AFRICA/CONGO DR - Appointment of the Rector of the inter-diocesan Major Seminary "St. Roberto Bellarmino" in Kisantu

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on September 30, 2011 appointed rev. Simon Matondo-Tuzizila, of the diocesan clergy of Matadi as Rector of the inter-diocesan Major Seminary "St. Robert Bellarmine" in the diocese of Kisantu (Democratic Republic of Congo).
The new Rector was born on October 9, 1958 in Kimpese (Democratic Republic of Congo). After primary school, he attended the minor Seminary in Kibula (1971-77). He studied philosophy at the Major Seminary in Mayidi (1997/80) and theology at the Major Seminary "Jean XXIII" in Kinshasa (1980-83). He was ordained a priest on February on 26, 1984. After being Assistant pastor and Professor at the minor Seminary of Kibula, in 1987 he was sent to Austria to continue his studies. From 1987 to 1995 he was a scholar at the Jesuit College in Innsbruck and carried out his pastoral ministry in the parish. From 1995 to 2002 he held various pastoral ministries in different parishes. In 2002 he obtained a degree in theology at the Jesuit University in Munich and in 2005 his doctorate in fundamental and dogmatic theology at the University of Innsbruck. When he returned home in 2005, he was appointed Pastor and Professor at the major Seminary in Mayidi. He has written several articles and two books. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 09/03/2012)
