AMERICA/BELIZE - Appointment of the Auxiliary of Belize City-Belmopan

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI on February 18, 2012 appointed Rev. Fr. Christopher Glancy, C.S.V.as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Belize City-Belmopan, Belize, assigning him the titular see of Absasalla.
Rev. Fr. Christopher Glancy, C.S.V., was born on April 10, 1960 in Moline, Illinois, Diocese of Springfield (USA). After his primary studies at Alleman High School in Rock Island, Illinois, he graduated in Sociology at Loyola University in Chicago.During his studies, in 1979, he joined the Institute of Clerics of Saint Viator. After having pronounced his first vows, on July 16, 1983, he completed a Masters of Divinity (Theology of Missions) at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. On 13 July 1986 he professed his final vows and was ordained a priest on April 17 1993. After his ordination he has held the following positions: 1993-1994: Parish Vicar, Maternity of the Blessed Virigin Mary in Kankakee, Illinois, and vocational ministry; 1994-1998: Vocational Ministry and member of the Provincial Council of his Institute; 1998-2002: parish Vicar, St. Francis Xavier parish, Corozal, Belize.
