AFRICA/CONGO DR - Appointment of Auxiliary Bishops in Kinshasa

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI as from February 2, 2012 has Auxiliaries for the archdiocese of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) Rev. Fr. Timothée Bodika Mansiyai, P.S.S., Rector of the Seminary of Philosophy in Kinshasa and General Counselor of the Society of Sulpician Fathers, assigning him the titular see of Naiera; and Rev. Sébastien Muyengo Mulombe, of the clergy of Kinshasa, currently a student at the University of Leuven (Belgium), assigning him the titular see of Strathernia.
Rev. Fr. Timothée Bodika Mansiyai, a Sulpician, was born on 1 January 1962 in Kinshasa. After his secondary education at the College "Bonsomi" (already College Pious XII) of the Jesuits in N'Djili, Kinshasa, he entered the Major Seminary St André Kaggwa in Kinshasa for his studies in Philosophy and then at the University Seminary Jean Paul I in Kinshasa to study Theology, obtaining also the License. On 1 August 1990 he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Kinshasa. Since 1993, he is a member of the Society of Sulpician Fathers. After ordination, he has held the following positions: 1990-1991: Pastor ad interim at St Cyprien; 1990-1992: Treasurer and Professor of Moral Theology at the Major Seminary Jean XXIII and other religious institutes; 1992-1993: Solitude sulpicienne Formation in Lyon, France, 1993-2001: Spiritual Director and Professor at the Jean XXIII Major Seminary and at the same time Chaplain of a leprosy hospital in Kinshasa; 2000: Initiator of the cultural and spiritual project for peace in the DRC, Cri du Congo; 2001 - 2005: Teacher at the Regional Seminar in Toulouse in France; 2001-2007: Doctorate in Moral Theology at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse, France. Since 2007 he has been Rector of the St André Kaggwa Seminary, Professor of Philosophy and Moral Theology and General Counselor of the Society of Sulpician Fathers.Rev. Sébastien Muyengo Mulombe was born on 8 May 1958 in Bukavu. After primary school in Bukavu and then in Kinshasa, he entered the Major Seminary St André Kaggwa, in Kinshasa to study Philosophy (1979-1982), and subsequently at the Jean Paul University Seminary in Kinshasa to study Theology (1982-1987).
On 1 August 1986 he was ordained a priest and incardinated in the Archdiocese of Kinshasa.
After ordination, he has held the following positions: 1986-1987: Sunday Vicar in the parish Holy Spirit of Livulu in Kinshasa; 1987-1991: Treasurer and professor at the Major Seminary of Theology Jean XXIII; 1988-1991: Rector of the preparatory Seminary Saint Jean Marie Vianney and President of the Diocesan Commission for vocations and a member of the Board of Councilors; 1991-1995: Higher education for a Doctorate in moral Theology at the Catholic Institute of Toulouse in France; 1997-2000: Director for the Pastoral Centre LINDONGE part-time Professor at the Catholic Faculties of Kinshasa; 1999-2008: Rector of the Major Seminary of Theology Jean XXIII and 2nd Vice-President of the National Bioethics Committee in the Democratic Republic of Congo; 2004-2007: Pastor of Saint Leopold; since 2007 : Full-time Professor at the Faculty of Theology in Kinshasa.
