AFRICA/LIBYA - Resentment among Gaddafi’s supporters for his burial in an unknown place

Tuesday, 25 October 2011

Tripoli (Agenzia Fides) - " Gaddafi’s burial in an unknown location in the desert is creating resentment among his supporters that are still present, especially in Sirte. Resolutions of retaliation circulate, even if one does not know if they are well-founded" say to Fides local sources contacted in Tripoli.
Gaddafi and his son Mutassim were buried at dawn today, October 25, in the desert, according to the sources of the Transitional National Council.
Meanwhile, in Sirte, Gaddafi's hometown, the explosion of a fuel depot has killed a hundred people.
In Tripoli, according to the sources of Fides, "the situation is calm during the day but at night you hear gunfire. We do not know if they are shooting in the air to express the joy of liberation or of skirmishes between rival factions". (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 25/10/2011)
