ASIA/EAST TIMOR - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Archbishop Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on September 2, 2011 appointed National Director of Pontifical Mission in East Timor for the years 2011 to 2016, Rev. d. Mouzinho Pereira Lopes.
The new National Director was born in Poerema, Cailaco on April 28, 1968. After his primary studies in Maliana, he attended the minor Seminary in Atambua, Indonesia (1989), then the preparatory year in Dili (1989/90), the year of spirituality in Jakarta (1990/91). He then studied philosophy and theology at the Major Seminary in Malang (1991/98). He was ordained a priest in Dili, on 11 June 1999. From 2000 to 2004 he continued his studies in Rome (Pontifical Salesian University), London and Lisbon. Since 2004 he has been Rector of the Seminary N.S. of Fatima and Episcopal liturgical master of ceremonies. Among the positions he has held: member of the Council of priests in Dili, a member of the National Commission of liturgy, a professor at the major Seminary in Dili and Dili Institute of Technology. He is also a diocesan delegate for the promotion and women's rights, author of the Indonesian-Portuguese dictionary, and articles for local and national publications. (S.L.)
