AFRICA/MALI - Rev. Clement Lonah, appointed rector of Saint Augustine Seminary Bamako

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, has appointed 18 June 2004, rector of the Saint Augustine Inter-diocesan Major Seminary in Bamako, in Mali, Reverend Clement Lonah, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Conakry. The new rector was born at Ourous (Guinea). He studied at St Pierre Claver major regional Seminary in Koumi (Burkina Faso). He was ordained a priest on 7 January 1989 in Conakry. After serving as assistant priest at Ourous, he went to Paris to study for a Licentiate in Philosophy at the Sorbonne (1994) and then to Rome where he obtained a Licentiate and Doctorate in dogmatic theology at Urban University (1998). Since 1998 he has been Professor, Director a the John XXIII minor seminary at Kindia (Guinea) and guest Professor at Bamako major seminary (Mali), where he has resided since 2000. (S.L.)
