ASIA/KOREA - Appointment of Auxiliary of Suwon

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father Benedict XVI on 7 February 2011 appointed as Auxiliary of the Diocese of Suwon (Korea) Father Linus Lee Seong-hyo, Professor and Director of the Centre for Research Academy in Suvon, assigning him the titular seat of Tower of Tamalleno.
Fr Linus Lee Seong-hyo, was born on 6 July 1957, in Gi-dong Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Kyonggi-do, Diocesi di Suwon (Archdiocese of Seoul). He studied at Ajou University; at Seoul National University, receiving an MA in Electronics; at the Major Seminary in Suwon; at the Major Seminary in Trier, Germany (1987-1992); finally, at the Catholic University of Paris (1993-2001), receiving his Doctorate in Theology. He was ordained a priest on 9 April 1992. After his priestly ordination he held the following ministries: 1992-1993: Assistant parish priest, Ho-gye; 1993-2001: Doctoral studies in France; 2001-2003: Parish priest, Osan, and Adjunct Professor at the Catholic University (Major Seminary) of Suwon: From 2003: Professor at the Catholic University of Suwon and director of pastoral affairs (2004-2006); 2006-2008: Dean of academic affairs,at the same university; From 2008: Thesis Editor at the Korean Theological Association.
