AFRICA/EQUATORIAL GUINEA - Appointment of National Director of Pontifical Missionary Society

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, on 27 May 2010, appointed as National Director of the Pontifical Missionary Society in Equatorial Guinea from 2010-2015, Father Antonio Mba Dong, from the diocesan clergy of Bata.
The new National Director is 48 years old and was ordained a priest 15 years ago. He received his license in dogmatic theology at the University of Salamanca, in Spain (2001-04). From 1995 to 1997 he was chancellor and spiritual director of Juan Pablo II Seminary in the same diocese; from 1997 to 2001, pastor of Maria Reina parish, rector of the Minor Seminary and diocesan delegate for the pastoral care of vocations. Currently he is Professor of Theology at the interdiocesan 'La Purisima' Major Seminary in Bata and at the Centre for Theological Formation for the Laity, as well as Vicar of the cathedral. (S.L.)
