AFRICA/KENYA - Appointment of Rector of “Cristo Re” National Major Seminary in Nyeri

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, on 8 November 2010, appointed as Rector of inter-diocesan “Cristo Re” Major Seminary, in the Archdiocese of Nyeri (Kenya), Father Josiah Muthee Mugera, a diocesan priest from Muranga.
The new Rector was born on 6 January 1965 and was ordained priest on 25 May 1991. He attended the St Paul Minor Seminary and then the St Augustine Major Seminary. He received a Diploma in philosophy and one in theology, then a Diploma in religious studies from the University of Nairobi and a License in pastoral Liturgy at the Pontifical Liturgical Institute of St Anselm in Rome. Among the roles he has held: he was assistant parish priest and parish priest, vice-rector of St Paul Minor Seminary, diocesan director for vocations, diocesan coordinator for pastoral care, member of the episcopal commission for the Liturgy. Since 2009 he has carried out the functions of Rector of “Cristo Re” Major Seminary. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 19/01/2011)
