AMERICA/CANADA - National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on June 18, 2010 appointed as National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies in French-speaking Canada, for five years, Fr. Andre Gagnon of the Society of Jesus (SJ).
The new National Director was born March 10, 1962 in Alma and entered the Society of Jesus on September 7, 1986. E was ordained priest on September 7, 1996. He made final vows on June 29, 2003. Before entering the Jesuits, he studied administration at the University of Quebec and thus, did his novitiate in Montreal (1986-88). He studied philosophy and administrative studies at the University of Montreal (1988-91), worked in administration in the Diocese of N'Djamena, Chad (1991-93). He studied theology in Paris (1993-98), and was later treasurer at the Spirituality Center in the Diocese of Douala, Cameroon (1998-99), collaborator at the university chaplaincy in Yaounde, Cameroon (1999-2000), university chaplain in Bangui, Central African Republic (2000-02), and pastor of St. Peter Claver parish in Tambacounda, Senegal (2002-09).
