AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Auxiliary Bishop of Apostolic Vicariate of El Beni appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Pope Benedict XVI, on November 6, 2010, appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of El Beni (Bolivia) Father Roberto Bordi, OFM, currently parish pastor at Magdalena, in the Apostolic Vicariate of El Beni, assigning him the titular see of Mutugenna.
Fr. Roberto Bordi, OFM, was born in Rome on January 2, 1946. He made his temporary profession on July 16, 1963 and his solemn profession on November 1, 1969 in the Parish of St. Francis in Acilia. He studied theology at the Urbaniana University (1967-1971). He was ordained a deacon in Rome on November 29, 1970 and a priest on July 4, 1971. After ordination, he held the following positions: 1971-1975: Treasurer and assistant priest in Yacuíba, Argentina; 1975-1984: Pastor and Custodial Councillor in Embarcación, Argentina, and beginning in 1982, also the Superior of the Convent of Embarcación; from 1984 to 1989: Superior-Pastor in Aguaray and in San Miguel of Tuyunti, Argentina; 1989-1999: pastoral ministry leader in the new Argentinean Vice-Province of San Francisco Solano; 1999-2004: pastoral ministry leader in Camiri, Bolivia; 2004-2006: Vicar Delegate of the Apostolic Vicariate of Camiri,; since 2006: pastor in Magdalena, Apostolic Vicariate of El Beni.
