ASIA/INDIA - Rector of Saint Joseph Pontifical Seminary in Verapoly appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on June 26, 2009, appointed as Rector of the Pontifical Seminary of Saint Joseph in the Archdiocese of Verapoly (India), Fr. James Raphael Anaparambil of the diocesan clergy of Alleppey.
The new Rector was born March 7, 1962 and was ordained a priest on December 17, 1986 for the Diocese of Alleppey. He studied at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, graduating with a PhD in Biblical Theology (1998). After his ordination, he served as Assistant Pastor, Prefect of the Minor Seminary and Youth Coordinator at St. Michael's College. Completing his higher studies in Rome, he held positions of responsibility in the seminary and at the Pontifical Institute of Alwaye: member of the staff of teachers, Vice-President, Vice-Rector, and President.
