AFRICA/KENYA - Auxiliar Bishop of Lodwar appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Pope Benedict XVI, on March 20, 2010, appointed Dominic Kimengich, Vicar of the Tribune of the Diocese of Nakuru, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Lodwar (Kenya), assigning him the titular see of Tanaramusa.
Fr. Dominic Kimengich was born April 23, 1961 at Kitur in Baringo District, Diocese of Nakuru. He studied philosophy at the seminary of St. Augustine and then theology at St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Nairobi. He received his Licentiate and Doctorate in Canon Law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. He was ordained Sept. 14, 1986 for the Diocese of Nakuru. After ordination, he held the following positions: assistant priest at Ndana (1986-1988); pastor of the parish in Kipsaraman (1988-1993); studies for a License and a Doctorate in Canon Law at the University of the Holy Cross (1993-1997), Rector of the Minor Seminary of St. Joseph in Molo (1997-2001), Vicar General of the Diocese of Nakuru (2001-2007); Diocesan Human Resource Manager for two years and administrator of the cathedral parish of Nakuru (2002 -2007), Rector of the Seminary of St. Mathias Mulumba in Tindinyo (2007-2008), Judge of the Diocesan Court of Nakuru (since 2003) and member of the Bishops' Commission for Liturgy (since 2007), Head of Canonical Office of the Kenyan Bishops' Conference (since 2008), and member of the Bishops' Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith (from 2009).
