Hong Kong (Fides Service) - According to Italian missionary Father Giorgio Pasini, PIME, parish priest at St Andrews Catholic parish in Hong Kong, priests and especially parish priests must get out of their offices and cultivate direct contact and relations with their people.
Because time is short and work is abundant it is important to train lay people to help priests with pastoral work, visiting families, meeting social needs on the territory. Father Pasini told the Kong Ko Bao, Hong Kong diocesan bulletin Chinese edition that “through its social work of assistance the Church becomes a tangible sign of faith”. With this in mind in his parish Father Pasini offers courses to inform lay people about social problems social, and how they can be solved with Christian love and solidarity.
