AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Cochabamba Parishes launch Permanent Mission

Tuesday, 2 March 2010

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) – There has been long talk of the Permanent Mission in Bolivia. The Bishops opened it in April of last year in Cochabamba, for all Bolivia. On February 2 this year, the Permanent Mission started in the Diocese. Now, it is time to begin the mission in every parish: some have already started the mission last Sunday, while others will do so in the coming weeks.
The Mission initially concerns pastoral workers. It is they who, like the Apostles, are called to the parish to attend the formation required for each mission. As Jesus called the Apostles to cultivate a deep communion with Him before sending them on missions, in the same way each parish priest or team will invite some pastoral workers, lay and religious, to create with them a small community of missionaries. And this will happen through a journey of spiritual formation, during which there will be spiritual exercises and retreats. It is a long path, as it is a process that is just beginning, i.e. a series of initiatives that are interrelated. They will only officially be missionaries after they have participated in these activities. The spirit of communion and the sense of responsibility will unite those who contribute to this work of the Lord. It will be very important to involve young people. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 02/03/2010)
