AFRICA/MALAWI - Auxiliary of Blantyre appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on January 25, 2010 appointed as Auxiliary of Blantyre (Malawi) Fr. Montfort Stima, Vicar General of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Puppi.
The Fr. Montfort Stima was born December 27, 1957 in Neno (Blantyre). He studied primary school in Neno and secondary school at the Archdiocesan Seminary Pius XII in Blantyre. He completed his studies in Philosophy at the National Seminary in Kachebere and those of Theology at the National Seminary in Zomba. He was ordained priest on August 3, 1986 for the Archdiocese of Blantyre. After ordination he held the following positions: 1986-1988: assistant priest at Namlenga, 1988-1990: Parish of Kadikira, 1990-1994: Pastor of St. Pius in Blantyre, 1994-1998: Studies for a Licentiate in Pastoral Theology at Gonzaga University (Seattle, USA); 1998-2001: Rector of the Archdiocesan Minor Seminary, 2001-2005: Pastor of Njuli and Pastor of the Cathedral of Blantyre, from 2005: Vicar General of Blantyre. He was also Director of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Office and the Office for Catechesis. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 26/1/2010)
