AMERICA/BOLIVIA - First Missionary Congress in Aiquile: “Let's go on missions!”

Saturday, 9 January 2010

Aiquile (Agenzia Fides) - “Let's go on missions!” sound's like a song refrain, but instead it is the clear shout raised y over 300 children participating in the First Missionary Congress taking place in the Prelature of Aiquile, January 7-10, organized by the Pontifical Society of the Holy Childhood Association (see Fides 08/01/2009). Among the information that has reached Agenzia Fides are several enthusiastic testimonies from children at the encounter that is a Church event across the nation. “For those who witness this event in the Church, there is an enviable enthusiasm and faith among these little ones in being members of the missionary society,” says one of the testimonies sent to Fides. “May God bless these children and make their enthusiasm awaken the dormant hearts of many Catholics in Bolivia.”
Event the website “Bolivia Misionera” (www.boliviamisionera.com) is uploading photos of each delegation from across Bolivia at the Congress, images of the magnificent scenery around the site of the Congress, and all the details of the welcome they have received from the people of Aiquile, the capital of Charango. For years, Aiquile has hosted the National Festival of Charango, a musical instrument typically used in Bolivian musical ensembles. This is why the children have made it their symbol. It has often been said that the art of music should be used in the permanent mission in Bolivia. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 09/01/2010)
