AFRICA/SOUTH AFRICA - Archbishop of Cape Town resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on December 18, 2009, accepted the resignation of the pastoral governance of the Archdiocese of Cape Town (South Africa), presented by Archbishop Lawrence Patrick Henry, in conformity with canon 401 § 1 of the Code of Canon Law. The Holy Father has appointed as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cape Town (South Africa), Bishop Stephen Brislin, until now Bishop of Kroonstad (South Africa). (SL) (Agenzia Fides 18/12/2009)
