OCEANIA/PAPUA NEW GUINEA - Bishop of Bougainville resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI, on December 15, 2009, accepted the resignation of the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Bougainville (Papua New Guinea), presented by Bishop Henk Kronenberg, SM, in conformity with canon 401 § 1 of the Code of Canon Law. The Holy Father has appointed as Bishop of the Diocese of Bougainville (Papua New Guinea), Bishop Bernard Unabali, until now Titular Bishop of Cuicul and Auxiliary of the same diocese.
