Tai Yuan (Agenzia Fides) – 18 adult catechumens of the parish of Nan She, in the Diocese of Tai Yuan, Province of Shan Xi, received the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) on World Mission Sunday, October 18. The solemn celebration, in communion with the Universal Church, celebrating Mission Sunday with the theme from Pope Benedict XVI's Message “The nations will walk in its light (Ap. 21, 24),” was also attended by a large group of non-Christians in addition to the crowd of Catholics present. This is now a tradition in the parish, which on every solemnity or feast invites even non-Christians to share the joy of the Catholics in this event.
According to information gathered by Agenzia Fides, the parish group for evangelization, under the leadership of Fr. Xue Lian Cheng, visited all the neighborhoods around the parish, as well as factories, universities, villages, families, young people...wherever there were souls, there was the group working away. The Lord rewarded their evangelization efforts with an abundant harvest. Since 2003, there have been over 200 baptisms, most of them adults. In 2009 alone, in Easter there were 27 people baptized, on the feast of the Lord's Baptism, 30, and on the feast of Our Lady's Assumption, 10. In this missionary month, they have intensified their efforts, with a complete mobilization of the parish. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 24/10/2009)
