OCEANIA/AUSTRALIA - E- Conference on Saint Luke prepares for a web audience of over 5,000

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

Brisbane (Agenzia Fides) – Final preparations are underway for the upcoming E-Conference on Saint Luke, a sequel to the previous one on Saint Paul, which will bring together Catholics from all over Australia and all over the world on November 4. Broken Bay Institute in Brisbane is offering the technical support for the event and those who wish to participate in the event, sponsored by the Australian Bishops' Conference, are registering on the website and there is already a web audience with over 5,000 members.
Presenting the conference, which is entitled: “St Luke, Come to the Table” and has been organized by the Bishops' Commission for the Missions and Faith Formation, will be Archbishop Mark Coleridge of Canberra and Goulburn, and Dr. Elizabeth Dowling, Theologian.
The Bishops of Australia have decided to hold the event after seeing the great success of the E-Conference on Saint Paul, which was held at the close of the Year of St. Paul, with over 10,000 in the web audience from Australia and beyond. Their objective is to create an “e-community” in pastoral ministry and in the Church in Australia's work of evangelization.
The event shows that the mass media, put to good use, can be an efficient source of evangelization. Thanks to the web and the new technologies, the conference is followed by faithful from all different cities, parishes, and towns across the country. The conference has an interactive character and the listeners can also participate with questions and reflections, in live, via the web. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 21/10/2009)
