Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – It was recently officially announced that the Holy Father Benedict XVI will send Cardinal Jozef Tomko, Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, as his Special Envoy for the concluding celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the evangelization of Taiwan, which will take place in Taipei on November 22. In the meantime, the Commission for Pastoral Ministry and Evangelization of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, appointed one of the main organizers of the event by the Taiwan Regional Bishops' Conference, has undergone a formation course for those who will accompany non-Christian visitors to the celebration. The “Evangelization Assistants” are Catholic faithful who are encouraged to bring a non-Christian to the celebration (see 10/09/2009)/
Over 250 faithful have participated in the course, which will be attended by Archbishop John Hung of Tai Pei, who highlighted that “we are all assuming the mission of evangelization. We should also think of how to go about doing it. We offer this course so that the faithful can learn how to transmit the faith in a short time and in an efficient manner.”
“Take your friends to the Lin Kou Stadium for the closing of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Evangelization of Taiwan on November 21, Vigil of Christ the King!” is the appeal launched by Cheng Lai Yi, President of the National Council of Lay Apostolate, to all the faithful of Taiwan. “God is Love” will be the main theme of the closing celebrations, which will be divided into two parts: the Congress of the Transmission of Love and the Mass on November 22.
