Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) – The Argentinean Diocese of San Martin is taking care of its final preparations for the Second Diocesan Missionary Congress that will be held Saturday and Sunday (September 26-27) at the Sacred Heart College. As a note sent to Agenzia Fides explained, the theme is “Church of San Martin, be a Missionary Disciple: Preach!” and is intended for “all those who feel that Jesus calls them to know Him.” The central themes of the Congress are “Disciple,” “Missionary,” and “Challenge to Preach,” in addition to the presentation of the conclusion of the III American Missionary Congress (CAM 3). Opening the workshops will be Fr. Osvaldo Leone, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Argentina. On th afternoon of September 27, in conclusion of the Congress, a Mass was celebrated for the launching of the Continental Mission in the Diocese.
The Diocesan organizers have issued several instructions from the Bishop for the Continental Mission, which includes “educating the parish community in preparation for a permanent mission.” “In the case of Baptism, it is not realist to assume that godparents and parents assume the Christian education of their children with efficiency,” therefore it is fundamental that every parish community “take charge of maintaining a personal relationship with families,” who wish to receive this sacrament and others. “In the measure in which missionary awareness grows in every parish, we see that the month of October is not sufficient for the mission, but we need to move on to a more permanent mission, so that the ties with the families can be strengthened, personalizing them in a spirit of respect and gradual pedagogy,” Bishop Rodriguez Melgarejo said.
