Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on August 24, 2009, appointed Fr. Francis Gervais Sams of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary (Eudists), Rector of the Interdiocesan Propedeutic Seminary of the Diocese of Katiola.
The new Rector was born on September 19, 1967 in Abengourou. After having completed university studies for a degree in English and Modern Literature, with studies in business communication and journalism, and entered the Congregation of Jesus and Mary (Eudists) in 1997 and was ordained a priest on June 24, 2001. He later earned a degree in Moral Theology. After his ordination, he ministered as follows: Chaplain of the schools and colleges in Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso) (2001-2005); Student of moral studies at UCAO (2005-2007); Vice-Pastor in St. Antoine de Padoue in Korhogo (2007-2008); Pastor of the Cathedral of St. Jean Baptiste in Korhogo (2008-2009).
