AMERICA/VENEZUELA - VI Regional Encounter on Church Self-Financing: “to inspire a sense of belonging in the People of God, leading them to conversion, communion, and solidarity”

Caracas (Agenzia Fides) – Over 80 people, from the 10 Bolivarian nations and the Antilles, as well as a large number of participants from the various dioceses of Venezuela, participated in the 6th Regional Encounter for Self-Financing of the evangelizational activity of the Church, which ends today, September 18, in Caracas. The initiative was organized by the Conference and Particular Church Section of CELAM's Department for Ecclesial Communion and Dialogue, in collaboration with the Venezuelan Bishops' Conference (CEV).
During the inauguration of the meeting, Archbishop Roberto Luckert Leon of Coro and second Vice-President of CEV, expressed his joy to all the Venezuelan Bishops for the presence of so many Bishops and priests from “our brother nations, whom we receive with great fraternal affection.” After the Welcoming Address, the various delegations presented themselves, focusing on the commitment assumed by the Latin American Church, especially at this time in the Continental Mission.
The first talk was given by Archbishop Ubaldo Santana Sequera of Barquisimeto, President of the CEV, who spoke of the importance of the meeting for “the promotion of the self-financing of the Church in Latin America, to inspire a sense of belonging in the People of God, leading them to conversion, communion, and solidarity.” (GT) (Agenzia Fides 18/9/2009)
