AFRICA/IVORY COAST - Rector of the “Notre Dame de Guessihio” Interdiocesan Theological Seminary in Archdiocese of Gagnoa, appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on August 24, 2009, appointed Fr. Celestin Igbrago Koffi, of the Diocese of Bondoukou, Rector of the “Notre Dame de Guessihio” Interdiocesan Theological Seminary in Archdiocese of Gagnoa (Ivory Coast).
The new Rector was born on January 1, 1961 in Tabagne, where he was ordained a priest on August 16, 1987. After his primary school studies in Tabagne, he earned a degree in Biblical Theology from the Catholic University of Western Africa (UCAO). He later studied Arabic and Islam. He has ministered as follows: Professor at the Seminary in Yopougon; Professor and Director of the Seminary in Bouake; Vice-Pastor and Pastor in several parishes, including the Cathedral of Bondoukou; Chaplain of African students in Tunisi; since 2002, he has been Professor of Sacred Scripture, Vice-Rector, Prefect of Discipline at the Major Seminary of Abadjin-Koute.
