AFRICA - On the occasion of the Year for Priests, 16 new priests from 3 continents for the Missionaries of Africa and another 24 in formation

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – At the opening of the Year for Priests, 16 young men will receive priestly ordination as members of the Society of Missionaries of Africa, also known as the “White Fathers.” According to a statement from Fr. Dominique Arnauld, Secretary for Initial Formation, several ordinations took place in May and June and others will be held in July and August, for a total of 16 new priests. They are from Asia, Africa, and Europe, from the countries of India, Poland, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, and Ghana.
During the Year for Priests, another 24 young men will be preparing for the priesthood, towards their mission of service in Africa, in the formation communities of the White Fathers in Nairobi (Kenya), Abidjan (Ivory Coast), and Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo), and in Jerusalem. “We invite everyone to join us in giving thanks for this abundant harvest and to pray for these future missionaries, that they can be 'apostles and nothing less than apostles' according to the intentions of Cardinal Lavigerie, founder of the Missionaries of Africa,” said Fr.
