AMERICA/ECUADOR - The Archbishop of Quito receives a group of foreign doctors who will assist in providing the resources lacking in the country

Quito (Agenzia Fides) – On Saturday, May 30, the Archbishop of Quito and Primate of Ecuador, Archbishop Raul Vela Chiriboga, received a group of foreign doctors, members of a foundation called “Charity Anywhere and Hope for Tomorrow,” who during the week will offer various medical services to those most in need, including face and eye surgeries and harelip correctional surgery, among other procedures. The doctors will offer care in the clinics of the Province of Imbabura.
Archbishop Vela expressed his appreciation for this visit and for all the work that the doctors carry ou in the most needy areas, where the people have no access to health services and the quality of life is affected. Archbishop Vela blessed his visitors, that they may continue with the work they do for those most in need, improving their quality of life and encouraging them to continue on in their activity and make a future visit to Quito and its rural parishes, with the direct support of the Archdiocese and its medical centers.
The doctors later traveled to the Province of Imbabura, especially the cities of Otavalo and Ibarra, to begin surgeries in the San Luis and San Vincent de Paul Hospitals. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 1/6/2009)
