Monday, 27 April 2009

Kampala (Agenzia Fides) – On the 4th anniversary of the election of Pope Benedict XVI, the Apostolic Nunciature in Uganda, in addition to the reception for ecclesiastical and civil authorities, has erected an exhibition entitled “On the Road to Damascus; The Start of a New Life,” dedicated to Saint Paul, in its internal courtyard. The 44 panels display his story and his encounter with Christ and the first Christian communities of the Apostle to the Gentiles. The seminarians of the “Ggaba” National Major Seminary in Kampala are delighted to observe the panels and offer a guided tour of the exhibition.
The visitors, among which are Bishops, religious, laity, and civil and political authorities, have been impressed by the text of the panels and the beauty of the images on display. Among the commentaries are: “Congratulations to His Holiness! This exhibition is a great way to celebrate the Year of Saint Paul”; “The display leads one into deep meditation and prayer for the Year of Saint Paul. I am praying for His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI”; “The display is a journey of faith through Christian values”; “Congratulations to His Holiness. Many thanks for the beautiful display on Saint Paul. God Bless You”; “Thank you for the inspiring message of the display on Saint Paul.”
The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Paul Tschang In-Nam, made the following commentary: “I have also been amazed by the exhibition, in the beauty of the images and the profound content of the text. Every day I feel compelled to spend at least a few moments admiring the panels and the depth of the words. I am very grateful to the curators and to Itacalibri for having helped us to enter into the Mystery of Salvation and the endless riches of divine grace, evident in the figure of Saint Paul and that the Pope has admirably placed as an example in this year dedicated to Saint Paul.” The exhibition will travel to visit other religious and educational institutions of Uganda. Its next stop will be Nairobi, in Kenya. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 27/4/2009)
