AMERICA/BRAZIL - Plenary Assembly of Bishops on “Priestly Formation: Challenges and Guidelines”

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) – The National Conference of Catholic Bishops in Brazil (CNBB) will hold a General Assembly in Itaici-Indaiatuba (SP), from 22 April to May 1, 2009. The Assembly will focus on the theme: “Priestly Formation: Challenges and Guidelines” and will address issues like “Christian Initiation” and “Brazil on the Continental Mission.”
During the Assembly, there will be a solemn session to recall the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Bishop Helder Camara, founder of the CNBB, who died in 1999. The Bishops will also make a pilgrimage on the 26th, in honor of the Year of Saint Paul. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 2/4/2009)
