Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – The Commission for Youth Apostolate and missionaries working in Hong Kong are calling for a greater participation among parishes in the evangelization of the youth and in youth pastoral ministry. According to a report from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the Commission for Youth Apostolate and the Council for Catholic Education in the Diocese, have written a report on the urgent need for a collective effort in reaching out to the youth.
According to the document, the priests and parish should take full advantage of their role – sometimes also as Directors or teachers in schools – to improve youth apostolate, offering support to those who work in youth ministry and offering their experience. Fr. B. Lepeu, MEP missionary, has become the spokesman for youth group leaders: “both the leaders and the youth desire the assistance of their Pastors. With this assistance, they will have a better chance of extending their efforts to evangelization to other youth (non-Catholic and non-Christian).” In addition, the missionary called for a greater effort in the formation of the religious in the area of youth ministry.
