Lima (Agenzia Fides) – Firm in their commitment to awaken the missionary youth spirit, the Pontifical Mission Societies in Peru (PMS of Peru), in their youth section (“Jovenes Sin Fronteras”), are organizing the 28th Missionary Youth Easter Campaign, which will take place April 9-11, according to a statement sent to Agenzia Fides.
The theme this year is: “Young people: I tell you...the mission is now!” and is based on the theme from the launching of the Continental Mission in Peru, which invites everyone to live in a permanent state of mission and leads us to create new forms of evangelization, through creativity and with a real testimony of Jesus Christ in our lives, giving all we can even amidst our poverty. “Jovenes Sin Fronteras”, the youth section of the PMS, has been celebrating this event since 1981, with the goal of offering youth in parishes, schools, and universities in Lima, a way of living Easter to the fullest, helping them to deepen in their personal relationship with Christ and thus, rediscover His Love in their lives. The youth group offers a special opportunity for a personal encounter with Christ, as will as in the exchange of experiences through work-groups, in which they come to know the context of the Universal Church, and can reflect on the life, Passion, and death of Our Lord. The participants will also become aware of the situations in each continent, to realize the great needs that exist in our world and thus, become aware of their mission to go beyond borders.
On April 9, there will be a presentation of the theme: “You called me...Here I am to serve!” to encourage participants to reflect on the gift of service that each one should live, taking into account the needs of society and the world. “The Cross: trial and challenge of love,” is the theme for Good Friday, April 10, with the goal of meditating on this great sacrifice of love made by Our Lord. How can we live this today? How do we respond to it? Are we ready to take up our cross and follow Christ? Lastly, on April 11, the theme will be: “Now is the time for the mission...youth, lift up your voice!”. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 11/3/2009)
