Nan Chong (Agenzia Fides) – About 50 women, led by Fr. Cheng Gong Ao and three religious sisters of the diocesan congregation of the Diocese of Nan Chong, celebrated the International Women's Day on March 8 with a pilgrimage and a reflection on Sacred Scripture. The idea was to thank the Lord for his wonderful Creation, value the beauty of femininity that God has bestowed on them, and spread awareness of the extraordinary dignity that God has granted to Catholic women.
In the early morning hours, the set off from the parish in Nan Chong, towards the mountain. During the two-hour hike and pilgrimage, they recited the Rosary and were able to appreciate the Lord's Creation, praising Him and giving Him thanks for the beauty of nature and all its creatures. Upon reaching the top of the mountain and following a brief spiritual reflection given by the priest, the women engaged in an enjoyable contest with questions from Sacred Scripture, in relation to the woman's role in family, ecclesial, and social life. At the end of the day, in addition to the congratulations to the two oldest women in the group, age 80, who hiked up and down the mountain with great agility, the priest confirmed the importance of women, encouraging them in their commitments in the life of the faith and in society.
