AMERICA/ECUADOR - First National Congress for Directors of the Holy Childhood Association in July: the Christian, missionary, and human qualities of a director, in the spirit of Saint Paul

Wednesday, 4 March 2009

Quito (Agenzia Fides) – The Pontifical Mission Societies in Ecuador, via the National Secretariat of the Holy Childhood Association, according to a report sent to Agenzia Fides from Osvaldo Fierro Teran, Secretary General of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the country. The goal of the congress is to “determine the Christian, missionary, and human qualities that a director of the Holy Childhood Association should have in working with children,” as the children who are members of the Association need someone to guide them and educate them on their missionary path, which demands certain characteristics that make each director a missionary disciple of Jesus Christ.
The theme of this Congress is “Missionary like Saint Paul; You are the Messenger,” in the spirit of the Year of Saint Paul, looking to him as the “untiring apostle, the missionary of Jesus that brought the Gospel to the ends of the Earth.” The Congress will take place in the city of Ambato (two hours south of Quito), July 10-12, and will be attended by 400 group directors of the Holy Childhood Association. At the Congress, participants will receive a “HCA Directors' Manual,” material that will serve as a complement to the great abundance of material the the PMS in Ecuador already offers for the formation of children in this Pontifical Association.
