AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Catholic Fair 2009 visited by over 10,000 visitors per day, with exhibitors from 10 countries

Medellin (Agenzia Fides) – The city of Medellin (Colombia) hosted the International Fair “Catolica 2009,” that was held on February 27 on March 1. The organizers have informed that the event was a success, with over 10,000 visitors per day and exhibitors from 10 countries.
“Catolica 2009” was held in the Plaza Mayor Conventions Center and allows exhibitors from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Brazil, the United States, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, and Colombia, to try out their business in the country.
The fair was inaugurated by Archbishop Alberto Giraldo Jaramillo of Medellin. There were Masses, workshops, conferences, artistic and cultural events, including the musical work “The Child's Home.”
One of the activities was a meeting of Food Banks, in which 28 food banks in the country come together to form the National Food Bank Network, whose goal is to improve food distribution to Colombians and eradicate hunger from the nation, as well as improving the organization of the banks and the exchange of donations. There was also an International Management Conference on Food Banks, given by Dr. Sofia Botero Uribe, Director of COMFAMA (an international family organization out of Antioquia, Colombia).
