ASIA/INDIA - Rev. Victor Joachim Machado appointed rector of St Joseph’s Inter-diocesan Seminary in Mangalore

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, has appointed, 30 April 2004, Rector of St Joseph’s Inter-diocesan Seminary in Mangalore, India, Rev. Victor Joachim Machado of the diocesan clergy of Mangalore. Rev. Victor Joachim Machado was born in 1945 at Modankap, Bantwal, D.K., diocese of Mangalore. He entered the seminary on 1 July 1961. He studied philosophy at St. Joseph’s Seminary and theology at the Papal Athenaeum at Poona. He obtained a Masters in Spiritual Theology and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Rome (1981). He was ordained a priest on 16 October 1969 at Modankap. He has since been: assistant parish priest, Professor of philosophy at St. Joseph’s Seminary and holder of the Chair of Christianity at Mangalore University.
