Rome (Fides Service) - The Archbishop of Coro, Archbishop Roberto Lückert, has said the Church will take an important role to address violation of human rights in the country and announced the institution of a National Office to Promote Respect for Human Rights.
Archbishop Lückert said the Office will be most active in those areas from which reports and protests come.
The Archbishop said the victims can apply to the Bishops’ Conference for advice and assistance. “A team of sociologists, lawyers and constitution experts will follow up the reports”, the Prelate concluded. (AP) (5/5/2004 Agenzia Fides; Righe:7; Parole:114)
