AFRICA/SOUTH AFRICA - Rector of the Interdiocesan Seminary of Saint John M. Vianney, Archdiocese of Pretoria appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on 26 September 2008, appointed Fr. Enrico Valentino Parry, of the clergy of the Diocese of Oudtshoorn (South Africa), Rector of the Interdiocesan Seminary of Saint John M. Vianney, in the Archdiocese of Pretoria (South Africa).
The new Rector was born on December 28, in Oudtshoorn and was ordained a priest on April 17, 1995. He studied philosophy at St. Peter's Seminary in Hammanskraal (1989), and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Education at the University of South Africa (1992) and a Bachelor of Theology at St. John Vianney’s Seminary (1994). He earned a Licentiate in Theology from the Pontifical University Urbaniana (2000) and a Doctorate in Systematic Theology from the University of South Africa (2006). Following his ordination, in addition to a pastoral experience as pastor in his diocese (1995-1998), he was given various positions at St. John Vianney’s Seminary in Pretoria (from 2000 to 2008): formator, professor, dean of students, Vice-Rector, and carrying out the duties of Rector. He was also co-chaplain of the university students at the University of Pretoria (2001-2003) and head professor and acting Rector at St. Peter’s Seminary in Pretoria (2006-2007). (S.L.)
