AFRICA/KENYA - Rector of Saint Mary Interdiocesan Seminary in Molo, Diocese of Nakuru, appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect for the Congregation of the Evangelization of Peoples, on 14 September 2008, appointed Fr. John Joseph Kamau, of the clergy of the Diocese of Eldoret, Rector of Saint Mary Interdiocesan Seminary in Molo, Diocese of Nakuru (Kenya).
The new Rector was born on November 18, 1959, and was ordained a priest on October 26, 1985 in Sacred Heart Cathedral, Diocese of Eldoret. After having attended Mother of Apostles Seminary in Eldoret (1974-77), he studied philosophy in Saint Augustine Seminary in Mabanga (1978-80) and theology in Saint Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Nairobi (1981-84). He continued studies in moral theology at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). He has ministered as follows in his diocese: as parish pastor, Secretary for Education, and Vicar General. Since 2003, he has served as Rector of Saint Mary Interdiocesan Seminary. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 16/12/2008)
