“Fulfilling the wishes of the Bishops' Conference in our recent exhortation “For Life and Democracy,” and taking into account the efficacy of prayer, having heard the voices of many who are calling for a day of prayer and the need to join in prayer – in spite of any differences or political stances...this weekend, in all of the Masses celebrated throughout our Archdiocese, a special day of prayer for life and peace in Venezuela will be held,” the statement sent to all the parishes says.
On this Day, the Cardinal explained, there will be an opportunity in all the Masses, “to elevate our prayers to the Lord, united for life and peace.” “Thus, we offer our Holy Eucharist and we lift our fervent prayers to the Lord, by the intercession of Mary, for life and peace in Venezuela, for an end to violence, murders, kidnapping, and personal insecurity; for harmony among Venezuelans, and for a peaceful, democratic, constitutional, and electoral solution to the problems that our belove nation is currently facing.” (RG) (Agenzia Fides 12/11/2008)
