Wednesday, 24 September 2008

Denver (Agenzia Fides) - Archbishop Chaput has approved the Archdiocese of Denver’s participation in a nationwide prayer and fasting campaign called “40 Days for Life.” He encourages all Catholics to unite their prayers with other participants, living in over 170 cities throughout the country.
The 40 days of prayer will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 24 and end Sunday, Nov. 2. Specifically, prayer is to focus on all elected officials, and their commitment to protect and defend all human life, particularly the life of the unborn.
There are three parts to the prayer campaign: a Novena prayer, various periods of fasting throughout the 40 days, and peaceful prayerful witness at the Planned Parenthood Clinic in Denver.
Two dozen parishes in the Archdiocese of Denver have committed to formal involvement in the campaign, in addition to Catholic organizations such as Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women (ENDOW), Archdiocesan Catholic Homeshoolers and schools such as Regis University and Machebeuf High School.
