AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - Rector of the Interdiocesan Theological Seminary of the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on 9 July 2008 appointed Father Gérard Razafimahandry, of the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa, as Rector of the Interdiocesan Theological Seminary of the Archdiocese of Fianarantsoa (Madagascar).
The new Rector was born on October 7, 1963 at all’Hopital d’Ambositra (Madagascar). He studied philosophy and theology (first year) at Saint Jean Baptiste Major Seminary in Vohitsoa and second year of theology at the Catholic Institute of Madagascar. He was ordained a priest on August 3, 1997 in Fianarantsoa. He completed theological studies (third year) at the Catholic University in Lyons. At the Major Seminary, he has served as professor of Sacramental Theology, Spiritual Director, and Vice-Rector. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 24/9/2008)
