AFRICA/CAMEROON - Rector of the Interdiocesan Theological Major Seminary of Saint Augustine, Diocese of Maroua-Mokolo, appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on May 23, 2008, appointed Father Paul Lontsie-Keune, of the clergy of the Diocese of Bafoussam, Rector of the Interdiocesan Theological Major Seminary of Saint Augustine in the Diocese of Maroua-Mokolo (Cameroon).
The new Rector was born August 25, 1963 in Balatki (Cameroon). After completing primary and secondary school studies, he studied philosophy (1983-86) at the Major Seminary in Douala and theology (1986-91) at the Major Seminary in Nkolbisson Yaoundé. He was ordained a priest on March 17, 1991. He has since ministered as follows: studies in liturgy and sacramental theology at the Catholic University in Paris (1991-94); returning to his homeland, he became Rector of Saint John the Baptist School in Bangangté (1994-98) and collaborated in various parishes. Since 1995, he has been Master of Ceremonies for the Diocese; since 1998 he has been the Secretary of Education and Catholic Teaching in the Diocese of Bafoussam; since 2003, he said Mass on Sundays at the Parish of Saint Paul in Bamendzi Bafoussam and was visiting professor of liturgy at the Major Seminary of Saint Augustine in Maroua-Mokolo; since 2005, he has taught at the School of St. André in Bafoussam. He is also author of several publications on Catholic schools, teaching, and education, as well as composer of several works of music. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 19/9/2008)
