EUROPE/SLOVAKIA - National Director of Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on May 31, 2008 appointed Fr. Víctor Jakubov, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Bratislava, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Slovakia for a five-year term (2008-2013).
The new National Director was born in Bratislava on October 14, 1956 and was ordained a priest in the same city on June 10, 1995. He studied at Saint Cyril and Methodius School of Theology (Comenian University in Bratislava). And at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome. After his ordination, he ministered as follows: chaplain 1995/1996, and parish pastor (1996/1997) in the parish at Neslusa; chaplain in Kursk and parish pastor in Voronez (1997/1998), Russia; Head of Discipline ath the Major Seminary in Saint Petersburg (2001/2003); assistant pastor in the parish church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Saint Petersburg (2003/2005); Spiritual Director a the Major Seminary in Saint Petersburg (2005/2008); Professor of homiletics and spirituality at the Major Seminary in Saint Petersburg (2001/2008).
