ASIA/TAIWAN - “Christian Life Weekly” becomes “Catholic Weekly”: a more professional and modern publication on spirituality, evangelization, and service

Monday, 1 September 2008

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – For years now, our readers have accompanied us in following the news pieces taken from “Christian Life Weekly.” Today the Catholic bulletin of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, after 56 years of service, has changed its name and its style, becoming “Catholic Weekly,” a more professional and more modern publication, so as to be a better instrument of “information, service, formation, and evangelization,” says the Editor-in-Chief. Archbishop Hong Shan Chuan, SVD, recently appointed Archbishop of Tai Pei, said that the reason behind the change is due to the demands of the times, in order to respond to modern challenges and to present the Catholic Church as salt and light of society. The new format of “Catholic Weekly” is smaller than the prior version. 5,000 copies of the journal are printed every week. Its 24 pages are divided in the following manner: 9 pages for news and comments on the local and universal Church; 2 pages for youth, ecumenism, and interreligious dialogue; and the rest are dedicated to the liturgy and sharing the faith. And of course, there is always a space dedicated to advertising. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides
