Gloria Germani - “TERESA OF CALCUTTA MYSTIC OF EAST AND WEST ” - Her thought in relation to India and Gandhi - Pauline Publications

Thursday, 12 February 2004

This is the first book which sheds light on the powerful mystical character of the spiritual experience of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, beatified by Pope John Paul II in October 2003. The figure of the nun is presented with a systematic analysis of her thought expressed only orally and in fragments, which reveal coherence, depth of spiritual experience and above all the fruits of the encounter of East and West, Catholic and Hindu tradition. Teresa in fact experienced this contact living in for almost twenty years, the years of non-violent struggle led by Mahatma Gandhi. The book, published in Italian, is a collection of most significant expressions of Mother Teresa’s thought. The mystical character of her spiritual experience is confirmed by various writings which only came to light during the process of beatification. (S.L.)
