AFRICA/CAMEROON - Rector appointed for the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of the Archdiocese of Bertoua

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect for the Congregation of the Evangelization of Peoples, on April 25, 2008 appointed Fr. Dieudonné Espoir Atangana, of the clergy of the Diocese of Obala, Rector of the Interdiocesan Major Seminary “B.M.V. a Spe” in the Archdiocese of Bertoua (Cameroon).
The new Rector was born March 22, 1958 in Ngongo (Efok), Cameroon. After completing primary and secondary school, he studied philosophy and theology (1979-1986) at the Major Seminary in Nkolbisson. He was ordained a priest in Yaounde on June 21, 1986. After one year of priestly ministry at the parish in Ndzong Melen, he studied in Tome (1987-1993) at the Pontifical University Urbaniana, where he earned a Licentiate and Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology. Upon returning to his homeland, he became a professor at the Major Seminary in Nkolbisson (1993-1994); spiritual guide for students the University Campus (1994-1997); Director of Theology Studies (1998-2002); Vice-Rector (2001-2002) and Rector (2002-2008) of the Major Seminary in Nkolbisson.
