AFRICA/CAMEROON - Appointment of the Rector of “Immmaculate Conception” Theological Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Yaounde

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on April 25, 2008, appointed Philippe Alain Mbarga, of the Diocese of Mbalmayo, Rector of “Immmaculate Conception” Theological Interdiocesan Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Yaounde.
The new Rector was born on January 28, 1968 in Obout, Diocese of Mbalmayo (Cameroon). He was ordained a priest on December 10, 1994. After primary school, he attended Saint Paul Minor Seminary in Mbalmayo, and later studied Philosophy at the Major Seminary in Nkolbison and Theology at the Catholic Institute of Yaounde. After his ordinations, he continued studies in the Theology with a concentration in Biblical studies, and earned a Doctorate in Biblical Theology in 2002, from the Fulda School of Theology in Germany. He also studied Philosophy by correspondence at the University of Reims (France). In 2002, he returned to Cameroon and served as Secretary to the Rector of the Catholic University of Central Africa and Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Catholic Institute of Yaounde. Since 2005, he has been Rector of the Minor-Philosophical Seminary of Otele. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 25/7/2008)
