Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect for the Congregation of the Evangelization of Peoples, on June 18, 2008 appointed Fr. Peter Artiken, Rector of Holy Spirit Interdiocesan Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The new Rector was born July 21, 1962 on the island of Tarawai. His native diocese is Wewak. He was ordained a priest on September 9, 1991. He studied philosophy and theology at the Major Seminary in Wewak. After carrying out pastoral ministry in a parish (1991-1999), he completed studies at the Angelicum in Rome (2002-2004). He has also ministered as follows: Spiritual Director at Holy Spirit Seminary (2000-2002), Rector (2004-2007), and Substitute Rector (2007-2008). (SL) (Agenzia Fides 24/7/2008)
