AMERICA/COSTA RICA - Youth Month on the theme of witness: “The Church asks each of you to be a torch of the Light of Christ to illuminate the way leading back to God”

Tuesday, 1 July 2008

San José (Agenzia Fides) - “As Archbishop of San José de Costa Rica, your Bishop and your friend, I greet you all and I urge you to live this 'month of youth' with enthusiasm. Our motto is ‘Let's be Witnesses” Archbishop Hugo Barrantes Urena said as he opened a diocesan Youth Month today 1 July.
“Fortified by the Word and the Body of Christ with St Paul we can say: love for Christ urges us on to build a better world” said the Bishop, adding “only love can change our society, only love can restore the soul of our world. Dear young people, the Church asks each of you to be a torch of the Light of Christ to illuminate the way leading back to God”. He concluded with the wish that the Youth Month might bear abundant fruits for the archdiocese.
Today in parish groups across the diocese groups of young people will start Youth Month. Each parish has reserved one church for special youth celebrations to be presided by a diocesan youth pastoral delegate. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 1/7/2008)
